Woodstock LL Softball All Stars win District 12 Title

2021 CT District 12 LL Softball Champions

On Monday July 5, 2021, the Woodstock/Plainfield 10/11/12 Softball All Stars defeated Killingly/Brooklyn 6-4 in a thrilling championship game to capture the CT District 12 Title. Kaylee Ziarko tossed a complete game, striking out four batters in the win. Kaylee Saucier went 3-3 at the plate and Ellary Sampson homered in the top of the fifth inning to break a 4-4 tie. Maci Corradi, Rosie Lopez, Shanira Valentin and Lily Mae Brisson also had hits in the win.

With the win, the District 12 champions moved onto Sectional play, which took place at Giddings Park in Franklin, CT. In the opening game, Woodstock/Plainfield was defeated by District 8 champion South Windsor 2-0. In Game two, Woodstock/Plainfield battled District 11 champion SFC/Coventry. Trailing 3-2 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Shanira Valentin singled to keep the Woodstock/Plainfield hopes alive. Down to their final strike, with Valentin on third base, Makayla Banas delivered a clutch single to right field to tie the game at 3-3. The game would go into extra innings with Woodstock/Plainfield winning the game 8-6 and advancing to the Section 4 championship game and a rematch with District 8 champion South Windsor. Although, the girls battled and scored a run in the bottom of the fourth innning to make it a 2-1 game, it was South Windsor who would pull away, winning 10-1 to earn the Section 4 championship and a trip to the CT State Final Four.

Congratulations to our Woodstock/Plainfield girls on their top 8 finish in the State of CT.
